Wolfgang Bloch was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

His calm and careful brush strokes and harmonious arrangements have, over the past two decades, produced works infused with the romanticism of William Turner and the pure expression of Mark Rothko. Bloch is a rare artist whose hands are guided as much by his dedication to craft and technique as by the nature of his materials and the sincerity of his discreet but evocative experiments.
Bolton Colburn, former director of the Laguna Art Museum, describes Wolfgang's work as "sublime and terribly romantic".
